When symptoms persist despite normal results, advanced functional testing can help us better understand what's happening beneath the surface. These tests look at gut health, hormones, metabolism, toxins, and environmental exposures to help connect the dots when the picture isn't clear.
This type of testing is not routine and is never ordered just to "run everything." We talk through your symptoms, goals, and history first, then decide together whether advanced testing makes sense and which tests, if any, would be most useful.
Comprehensive stool test that evaluates gut bacteria, parasites, viruses, fungi, and markers of digestion and inflammation. Commonly used for chronic digestive symptoms, autoimmune concerns, skin issues, and unexplained fatigue.
Includes the GI-MAP plus a marker associated with intestinal permeability, often referred to as leaky gut. Helpful when digestive symptoms overlap with inflammation, food sensitivities, or immune-related concerns.
Advanced hormone test measuring sex hormones, cortisol patterns, melatonin, and hormone metabolism. Often used for fatigue, mood changes, weight concerns, and perimenopause or menopause support.
Expanded hormone testing that combines dried urine hormones with salivary cortisol to provide a more detailed picture of stress and hormone patterns. Useful for complex fatigue and burnout.
Urine-based test that provides insight into nutrient deficiencies, mitochondrial function, detox pathways, neurotransmitter metabolites, and gut microbial activity. Commonly used for fatigue, mood concerns, and metabolic issues.
Urine test that screens for mycotoxins produced by certain molds. Considered when there is known or suspected mold exposure or unexplained chronic symptoms.
In-depth stool test assessing digestion, absorption, inflammation, microbiome balance, and infections over a three-day collection period. Often used for long-standing or complex digestive concerns.
Breath test evaluating hydrogen and methane gas production associated with bacterial or methane overgrowth in the small intestine. Commonly used for bloating, constipation, diarrhea, or abdominal discomfort.
Cheek swab genetic test evaluating genes related to detoxification, nutrition, inflammation, and metabolism. Results are used to guide personalized lifestyle and nutrition strategies, not to diagnose disease.
Dust sample test that screens for mold species present in the home environment. Helpful when environmental exposure may be contributing to chronic symptoms.
The prices listed above reflect non-member pricing.
Patients enrolled in a Staywell Health membership receive highly discounted lab pricing, and in most cases can expect lab costs to be passed through at or near wholesale pricing. Membership allows us to remove much of the administrative overhead that typically drives up healthcare costs and pass those savings directly to you.
Advanced testing is optional and individualized. Not everyone needs specialty labs, and more testing does not always mean better care. In many cases, meaningful improvement can happen without advanced testing at all.
When advanced labs are used, the goal is clarity, not complexity.
In addition to the tests listed above, other specialty testing is available, including hormone mapping, microbiome testing across different life stages, neurotransmitter testing, environmental exposure assessments, and more.
If you're interested in a specific test or wondering whether advanced testing might be appropriate for you, please reach out through our contact page and we'll be happy to talk it through before anything is ordered.
We believe that the best health outcomes come from consistent, relationship-based care. If you find the insights from your lab evaluation valuable and choose to join a Staywell Health membership within 60 days of completing your interpretation, we will waive the one-time membership registration fee as a courtesy.
This waiver is our way of supporting your transition into a continuous primary care partnership.
